MDC achieves ISO 45001 health and safety standard

MDC has been awarded ISO 45001, an international standard for occupational health and safety.

The standard is the world’s first international standard for occupational health and safety. Independently certified, it provides a framework to increase safety, reduce workplace risks and enhance health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Organisations that achieve this standard are recognised as going above and beyond, by managing risks proactively, holding a clear focus on incident prevention, and staying ahead of legal requirements.

MDC’s recent certification aligns and attests to the commitments made in its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. It is committed to aligning with operational governance best practice, adopting practical risk management processes, focussing on mitigating compliance risks and promoting an ethical approach to business.

Robert Sherville-Payne, General Counsel and Executive Lead of Medicines Discovery Catapult’s ESG Programme, said:

“As a values-driven organisation, we are committed to ensuring that we govern ourselves safely and responsibly, on behalf of our people and our wider stakeholder community. We are delighted to achieve this accreditation. It demonstrates the hard work of our teams to deliver on our promises and drive excellence across our health and safety practices.

“We will continue to uphold the highest standards and seek further opportunities to improve, as we deliver on our overall vision to reshape drug discovery for patient benefit.”

The accreditation has been certified by Interface NRM, a UKAS and ASIaccredited certification body.
